ONE of Nathan's favorite things...

...is to push the baby gate open enough to free Wyatt from his holding cell and get his (Wyatt) grimy slinky body on the furniture. Nathan will hear you say "NO" and this tends to kick him in to high gear, just laughing out loud with every quadruped movement.

Eleven Months

Warning...Picture overload below. It's been awhile, so I am including almost 2 weeks of happenings. Nathan is almost 11 1/2 months old!!

  • He has not progressed to walking quite yet, but as you can see in many of the pictures, he is readily pulling up on everything.
  • He is eating most everything we eat now and loving it ( except for green items).
  • He says "Uh-oh", and moos when he sees a cow.
  • He has seven teeth!!
  • He remains a happy, easy baby.
  • Had his first bout of sickenss - an ear infection, among other things :(
  • Weighs 21 lb 4 oz
  • Knows when he should not do something, but enjoys testing his limits (see china cabinet picture)

These pictures are from Trace's parents Fall Party...There are several of Nathan with his cousins Lillian and Lucas.

Stuck Between a Rock and a Hard Place

Carolina Dry Rub Recipe

Trace and I love to grill and while the weather is starting to turn cooler, I wanted to pass along this delicious dry rub recipe. My best friend, Ryanne, recommended it and Trace and I loved it. She liked it better on pork chops, we had it on chicken and it was delicious - different from the usual Lawry's with a bit of a kick.
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 t sugar
1 t paprika
1 t chili powder
1 t freshly ground pepper (used "black dust in a can" for those PW followers)
1/2 t salt
The recipe recommends this for 4 pieces center cut pork chops. I used two large chicken breasts and it was a strong but yummy flavor. Enjoy!

A Boy and His Dog

The other day I caught Nathan and Wyatt in a classic shot that will forever be a favorite. In our kitchen we have a low window sill, it has always been a favorite spot for Wyatt to look out and survey "his domain." With Nathan's ever-increasing mobility, it has become a favorite spot of his also. I was cleaning up in the living room and walked by to see this...

I will be ordering a large print of this as soon as possible for our wall!!

Food Fight

Nathan has started eating more and varied foods - he is feeding himself more also. He is great with puffs, shredded cheese, small pieces of whatever fruit or veggie. Sadly, these pictures are when I was feeding him. We went through a game of me put a spoonful of food in, he quickly insert a hand or food, then smear remaining food on his face...I cannot imagine what it will be like when he feeds himself.

After a little clean up, but he was still all about the foot in mouth.

Yummy Fall Snack

I came across this recipe on Sunday Baker...Highly recommended, it is both sweet and salty and, of course, very addicting. I am not going to post the recipe, just a link to her site.
I ran into an issue with my finished mix sticking to the wax paper, so you may want to either spray it with some cooking spray, or leave on the pan. I can see all sorts of fun alterations of this - using different nuts, maybe some Reece's Pieces instead of M & M's...This is truly the last thing I need easy access to, but it is so tasty!

Handsome Devil

This is Nathan after church this morning...He has on a real tie!!

I am totally addicted to Etsy and this was from the seller the belle and the beau. He will likely wear this for his one year pictures.

He tolerated it surprisingly well, I never saw him pull on it, but it does drag on the ground when he crawls. And I know I am partial, but this is just too cute!
